Yacht Delivery Application
Every year hundreds of boats are moved up and down the coast by professionals. Insurance companies assign riders once they review the captain’s resume and the owners meet their boats in either their favorite cruising grounds or back at their boat’s home port. Sometimes it’s newly purchased boats that are moved and sometimes captains are hired to import the boat across the border saving owners thousands.
The process is easier than you think. The first step is to submit a recent survey and fill out this application.
The cost of provisions and the captain’s transportation are in addition to the delivery charge. Lay days due to weather or repairs are provided at fifty percent of the day rate. Half of the estimated delivery cost is paid to schedule the delivery then the remaining quarter before departure and the remaining quarter after the crew has returned home.
If your vessel is eligible, we can offset the cost of the delivery partially or in some cases entirely by offering a class aboard during the delivery.
If you wish to join the delivery crew for the passage you must submit a crew application (see below). Joining the crew for the delivery can be hugely beneficial but it changes the liability and dynamic and is therefore categorized by GBA as private instruction. This can be accommodated but requires further preparation and may increase the length of the passage.
Please complete the form below
Note: Unless otherwise stated the owner is expected to prepare the vessel for the passage. Hiring mechanics to service the engine(s) greatly increase the chances that the delivery goes as planned. Not preparing the vessel can lead to great cost in time and money due to remote repairs. Spare parts and tools are essential to safe and successful passagemaking.
If you need help preparing your boat for delivery GBA can provide this service or advise trustworthy technicians to do so.
