160 Nautical miles
In the 160 we leave Friday Harbor on an evening ebb and we sail out Cattle Pass into the Straight of Juan De Fuca into the ocean. We then round Duntze Rock Light and head back. The round trip is 160 miles and can be done in less than 24 hours. This trip is designed to introduce sailors interested in offshore sailing to subjects like vessel traffic, AIS, both day and night piloting, night sailing, cooking in a sea way, reefing and big boat spinnaker handling. It is perfect for those looking to participate in overnight racing and coastal cruising. This is a hands on coarse so students are expected to participate in every aspect of the sail.
The cost is $400 each and the class minimum is four and maximum is 6. There will be two captains so all watches will be supervised.
